Okay, here we go. Please bear in mind that this is nowhere near being usable. For starters, there's no tab completion, most of the host interface methods are yet to be implemented, the input control acts strangely sometimes, help is nonexistent. And I could go on.

Still, I hope you gonna like it, and I'm looking forward to bug reports and feature requests!

Please don't forget to install Microsoft Windows PowerShell 2.0 CTP2 first, otherwise you gonna get an exception followed by an empty window.

A new preview is here! It should have been a small update to the last preview, but it turned out quite big, even though there's only a single new feature.

I ported over my tab expansion code, originally included with PowerShell Community Extensions, so if you plan to use PSCX with BGShell, please disable the PSCX TabExpansion function. You can, of course, try to use any other tab expansion -- I think the BGShell TabExpansion interface should be quite similar to that of PowerShell.exe.

Apart from that, I've done a ton of polishing work, have fixed number of bugs and minor UI glitches (not all of them are listed as work items), and completely overhauled the interaction between UI and the PowerShell runspace. There are no more blocking calls when retrieving history or tab expansions, and only currently visible text is syntax-highlighted. Therefore the UI should stay pretty responsive at all times, even after pasting few thousand lines of code. There is also a number of small improvements to the existing data tip popups.

Re-release of the June 2008 build. Following bugs were fixed:
- the process no longer stays running when the window is closed
- when closed, the window disappears correctly on Windows XP or Windows Vista without DWM running
- the runspace doesn't stop responding after a parse error balloon is shown
- the menu is visible when running on Windows XP

And two features were implemented:
- Clear-Host (yay! :-))
- nested prompt support (known issue: variable data tip will crash when in nested prompt)
